How to use the metronome
Set the tempo with the slider, the − and + buttons, by typing, or by tapping Tap in time with the music. Choose the beats per bar and the subdivision (2 for eighth notes, 3 for triplets, 4 for sixteenths), then press Start or the space bar.
Tap a beat under the controls to change its accent: strong, normal, soft or silent. The first beat of the bar lights up in a different colour, and the pendulum reaches its side exactly on each click.
Practise smarter
- Speed trainer: start slow and let the metronome add a few BPM every few bars, up to your target.
- Muted bars: play two bars with the click and two without, to test your own sense of time.
- Random mutes: the click drops out on some beats; keep going steadily.
- Polyrhythms: a second pulse divides the bar evenly, for 3 against 2, 4 against 3 and more.
- Swing: move the off-beats later for a shuffle feel.

With Bluetooth headphones the sound arrives later than the picture: under More settings, raise the light delay until the beat lights match what you hear.
